Ok, I'm really poor at time management. Thus, I haven't updated in many, many months.
Here is a brief recap of what has been going on with the Rusty Sprocket:
Did some spring racing.
The Clarance-Rockland classic, a new race was a real challenge for me, never having done a "rough road" race before. The cyclocross bike was a perfect match and I enjoyed the race without incident. Many riders suffered multiple flats and lost bottles. The roads ranged from poor to worse with many section of freshly dropped and difficult to negotiate gravel. I finished in an ok position considering my inexperience. The millage I put on with the indoor trainer helped get me into the best condition I've ever been this early. This race was followed by the Almonte-Roubaix (or Paris-Roubaix). Right off the bat this one was a tough one. For example I received a large rock to the face before we even started racing in earnest. There was lot of jostling for position but my instinct for self preservation (fear) had me ease off the front spot because of the dreaded loose gravel. There were elbows everywhere and since I'm not a real 'contender' I wisely dropped back. I was doing alright but the route organiser Bob Woods added a hellish dirt road section that finally did me in. My endurance was lacking so I limped home. I was happy with my result as it again set a benchmark for future efforts. I hope to do a lot better next year.
Got a TT bike. I managed to secure a fine aluminum Trek Equinox 7 for this years OBC TT series. My Good Friday TT result was really good ad had me feeling confident. Those trainer intervals really paid off. The short nature of the 15k course helps. Well, my confidence was shattered the next time since I couldn't duplicate the earlier result in the next go. Since then I've been tweeking my position on the bike but the combination of a chest cold and lost training time has proved to be a set-back. I've been taking it easy for a few weeks but will once again take up the quest. My goal is to beak the 40Kph mark. My best time so far is a shade over 39Kph. I have a real dread of the 40k TT I'll have to do some time. That's a lot of time to be 'full on'.

I'm in Madison, Wisconsin
Hello from Madison.
I'm here to participate in a TREK FIT clinic ( level two ). It's snowy and cold and a lot like Canada in January outside. I'm looking forward to increasing the breadth of my bike fit knowledge, particularly in the area of Tri/Time Trail bikes and cleat adjustment.
Cheers all.
